Senator Tom Ridge??????

Yesterday Arlen Specter switched parties and joined the do nothing democrats. I thought that would help the democrats by forcing them into doing the peoples work. Sadly today President Obama started back on the campaign trail, and gloated about Specter. My first thought was that I couldn’t blame the gloating but after thinking about it I also changed my mind. Now if Specter wins the democratic primary and Toomey wins the republican primary then Specter can count on my vote. But if Ridge wins the republican primary then Specter would not even be considered as a choice for me. I am drafting a letter to Governor Tom Ridge asking him to run for office, especially the US Senate that needs some tough love. I will post that when I am finished writing it. The moderates and value voters of both parties are looking for loyalty, which can not be found in either of the candidates that are current running. There is an open door for Ridge to return and fix the things we need fixed. Dems supported Ridge and applauded his effort as governor of PA, and now PA needs him again.

Arlen Specter (D-PA)

I personally never thought this day would come, but here it is. When my phone rang this morning I never thought it was going to be this headline, “Specter Running as a Democrat.” But times are different, and so is the political season. Arlen Specter has been a public servant of Pennsylvania for many years, and no matter how disappointed I am with this switch I will still cast my vote for him. Sure it would help the Republicans to beat Specter but I feel that Toomey is not PA and is not worthy of my vote. Some Dems are probably happy with this switch as they should be, but realize this. In 2005 when it looked as if the Democratic Party was falling apart, I to thought I was witnessing the fall of their party, but as we now it takes complete lost and defeat after defeat for any come back to be achieved. My away messages and facebook comments in 2005 all stated the death of the Democratic Party was at hand, but a true person of history would have been able to tell that political parties don’t die but rather in lost become stronger. It has only been fours years since 05 and now the Dems control the House, the Senate, and White House which just four years ago all were controlled by the Republican Party. So with a sigh and a deep breath I take this lost and wish Senator Specter the best of luck.

PS. Sorry about not posting anything before just wasn’t feeling too political.
